Testing Phase of MV Liemba to Improve Marine Transport Services

• He said MV Liemba had entered the testing phase ahead of resuming operations, a development expected to improve marine transport services along Lake Tanganyika.
• Prof Kahyarara said improved integration of ports, railways and marine transport would enhance the movement of goods while supporting trade, agriculture and economic activities across Tanzania and neighbouring countries.
• Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Prof Godius Kahyarara, said the initiative would enable traders and farmers to access faster, more efficient and affordable transport services.
• This will improve efficiency and reduce transportation costs for businesses and other users of the transport system,” Prof Kahyarara said.
