Launch of Specialized Dental Services for Children at MUHAS

• Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) has launched a specialized dental service for children requiring anesthesia or sedation on August 18, 2026, in Dar es Salaam.
• The initiative is a collaboration between MUHAS, Ankara University, and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
• The dental unit, located at the MUHAS School of Dentistry, has already treated 27 children since May this year.
• This service is aimed at children who fear needles, cannot tolerate dental treatment while awake, or have health challenges that complicate standard treatment.
• TİKA has supported the unit by providing anesthesia equipment, dental tools, and emergency care supplies.
