Demonstration of Water Treatment Chemicals by MWAUWASA

• The appeal was made recently by a water quality specialist from the Mwanza Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (MWAUWASA), Zahra Ulole during a public awareness campaign on the importance of water treatment.
• She explained that the treatment process begins at Lake Victoria, the city’s main water source, where various chemicals are added to remove impurities and make the water safe for human consumption.
• We educate residents about the chemicals used in water treatment in accordance with national water quality standards,” she said.
• She said that after all treatment stages are completed and the required amount of chemicals has been applied, the water becomes safe for human consumption.
• The specialist said MWAUWASA uses specialised equipment to treat water and continuouslymonitor its quality to ensure it meets national safety standards before distribution.
