The Deputy Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Mcha Hassan Mcha, has urged newly recruited TRA employees to uphold Public Service laws, regulations, procedures and ethical standards in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking during the opening of an induction programme for newly recruited TRA employees held at the Tax Institute in Dar es Salaam on July 20, 2026, Mr. Mcha emphasized that integrity, professionalism and commitment are fundamental pillars of the Public Service. He noted that these values are essential for achieving the Authority’s revenue collection objectives and contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.

Mr. Mcha also expressed his appreciation to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for approving the recruitment of new employees in line with the Authority’s staffing requirements. He said the new recruits will strengthen TRA’s workforce and enhance the Authority’s operational efficiency and service delivery.

He further underscored the vital role played by TRA in national development, noting that revenue collected by the Authority enables the Government to finance and improve essential public services, including education, healthcare and infrastructure.

The Deputy Commissioner General encouraged the new employees to take full advantage of the induction programme by actively participating in the sessions, asking questions and sharing ideas that will enhance their knowledge, skills and overall job performance.

Earlier, the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Mr. Moshi Kabengwe, said that the recruitment of 243 new employees has increased TRA’s workforce to 9,020 employees across the country.

Mr. Kabengwe described TRA as a safe and rewarding workplace and urged the new employees to uphold the trust placed in them by carrying out their responsibilities with integrity, professionalism and dedication while collecting Government revenue for the benefit of the nation.

Meanwhile, the Rector of the Tax Institute, Prof. Isaya Jairo, welcomed the new employees and assured them that the Institute is fully prepared to provide foundational training in Taxation and Customs to equip them with the knowledge and skills required for their new roles.
