Fahmia Selemani: Leading Food Security and Regulatory Reform at Copra

As Acting Head of the Northern Zone at the Cereal and Other Produce Regulatory Authority (Copra), Fahmia oversees a vast operational area spanning seven zones and 14 regions.

Colleagues describe her as a meticulous regulator and an advocate for systemic reform—qualities that have come to define her 15-year career across agricultural education, academia and regulatory management.

My role is to catalyse growth, resilience and food security by facilitating efficient production, processing and marketing services that promote competitiveness and innovation in the cereal and produce industry.

Through mentorship initiatives and succession planning within Copra, she supports capacity-building programmes that equip young professionals with both technical skills and leadership competencies.

He built a formidable reputation as a fearless voice for the marginalised, particularly advocating for fishermen’s rights and coastal communities.

Taarifa zinaonesha kuwa tani 23,783,128 za mazao zilizalishwa katika msimu wa 2024/2025, kiwango kinachozidi mahitaji ya tani 18,279,054 kwa mwaka 2025/2026, hivyo kuifanya nchi kuwa na uhakika wa chakula kwa asilimia 130.
