Postpartum depression is more common than many people think and is not a parenting failure. Professional and family support matter. Thoughts of harming the baby or yourself need emergency help.

  • Hormone changes after birth
  • Fatigue / poor sleep
  • History of depression
  • Lack of support
  • Birth complications

When to see a doctor

Seek help promptly if sadness lasts more than 2 weeks, or there are thoughts of self-harm/harming the baby.
