Overview

Drooling can occur in young children, during sleep, or after medicines. In adults, sudden drooling with facial weakness can signal stroke. Assessment is needed if swallowing or speech is hard.

  • Nerve problems

When to see a doctor

Get emergency care if drooling starts suddenly with facial weakness, speech trouble, or breathing difficulty.
