Overview
Dehydration causes thirst, dry mouth, dizziness, and dark urine. Children and older adults are at higher risk. Water and ORS help mild cases; confusion or inability to drink is an emergency.
Possible causes
- Diarrhoea or vomiting
- Heat / heavy sweating
- Low fluid intake
- Fever
- Hard exercise without fluids
When to see a doctor
Seek care promptly for confusion, inability to drink, sunken eyes, or severe diarrhoea.
