Ingredients
- 3 cups Bread flour
- 2 tsp Yeast
- 1 cup Tomato sauce
- 300 g Mozzarella
- 200 g Diced chicken
- 1 Bell pepper
- 1 Onion
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
How to cook Pizza
Wheat-crust pizza is popular in Dar es Salaam and major towns, especially weekends for youth and families. Tomato, cheese and meat or vegetable toppings on yeasted dough. Home and pizzeria food.
- Mix flour, yeast, salt, water and oil; knead smooth dough.
- Cover and rise 1 hour until doubled.
- Punch down and roll to about 30 cm circle.
- Place on oiled tray or parchment.
- Spread tomato sauce leaving a small rim.
- Top with cheese, chicken, bell pepper and onion.
- Preheat oven to 220°C.
- Bake 15–18 minutes until crust is golden and cheese melts.
- Rest 3 minutes out of oven.
- Cut into wedges and serve hot.
Tips
- Hot oven gives crisp pizza crust.
- Do not overload toppings or crust stays soggy.
- Mozzarella melts best for stretchy cheese.
