  • Speaking today, August 13, 2026, during the launch of various development projects in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar, Aweso said the initiative was part of efforts by the Union Government, in collaboration with the Revolutionary.
  • ZANZIBAR: THE Minister for Water Jumaa Aweso has said the new Kizimkazi water source has the capacity to produce up to 2.4 million litres of water per day, against the area’s estimated daily demand of 500,000 litres.
  • He said the project was also aimed at advancing the government’s ‘kumtua ndoo mama kichwani’ initiative, which seeks to reduce the burden on women who spend significant time fetching and carrying water, enabling them to.
