Overview

Hoarseness often follows a cough, shouting, or reflux. Fluids and voice rest help. Hoarseness beyond 2–3 weeks, especially in smokers, deserves evaluation.

  • Reflux
  • Cigarette smoke
  • Allergy

When to see a doctor

See a clinic if hoarseness lasts more than 2–3 weeks, or you have breathing trouble or blood.
