Highlights

  • Group net loss for the year significantly reduced to TZS 861.7 million in 2016 from TZS 4,893.3 million in 2015.
  • Group turnover increased slightly to TZS 18.28 billion in 2016 from TZS 18.07 billion in 2015.
  • Rungwe Avocado Company exported over 1,300 tonnes of fruit in 2016, up from 566 tonnes in 2015, and reported a small profit for the first time.
  • Wakulima Tea Company Ltd (WTC) reported a trading profit of TZS 500 million in 2016, compared to a loss of TZS 700 million in 2015.
  • Basic earnings per share improved to a loss of TZS 57.40 in 2016 from a loss of TZS 153.19 in 2015.
  • Group's current liabilities exceeded current assets by TZS 14.19 billion in 2016 (2015: TZS 7.04 billion), indicating a material uncertainty about going concern.
